Biotechnology

My suggestion to start reading, I will first explain what is Biotechnology. We can say that the use and applications of chemical and biological knowledge, technology in the food, environmental and health area is the function of a biotechnologist, since it is responsible for studying the genetic improvement and the creation of new products, among other areas of knowledge that this professional can act.

With this in mind, let's read my suggestion, "Brave transgenic World", available at: http://www.unesp.br/aci/jornal/151/biotecno.htm

Whenever the topic transgenic is treated in the media, it divides opinion among environmentalists, researchers and industry ... But why the line is so thin?

On the one hand there is the need to increase the nutritional quality of plants, to increase the production of food and tests for large scale production. On the other hand, there is the use of pesticides and the risk of allergies due to some plants to produce proteins toxic to man.

In Brazil, the production and trade of GMOs (genetically modified organism) are regulated by law since 1995, and packages must bear the inscription "genetically modified food" were approved by law in 1999 in order to educate citizens so that they are able to perform choices about what to consume.

Another point addressed in the text is the world's hungry, but I will not comment on this for you to read the report of UNESP.
