The 3 R’s of sustainability are: reduce, reuse and recycle. They are actions that, when adopted, improve the relation consumer-environment, giving profits for both.
‘R’ of reduce: If we think about all products we buy, it’s possible to notice that most of times we acquired unnecessary things. Then, the first step is to reduce the consumption buying only what we need. With this, we can reduce the amount of products and reduce money wastes.
‘R’ of reuse: After reducing the consumption, the second step is to reuse old products. With creativity, we can give other functions to objects that we won’t use anymore. For example, clothes that won’t be used can be turned into a new accessory after a customizing or, an old mobile can change your place in the house or be donated. If we reuse objects, the garbage dumped in environment will reduce.
‘R’ of recycle: All productions spend energy and resources. When we recycle, we are collaborating for reduce the exploitation of natural resources. Recycle is a simple process: Separate the recyclable trash and organic trash, and redirect the recyclable trash to a recycling center.
Following the 3 R’s we will reduce our cost of living and also take care of the environment, favoring a sustainable development.
